Qualified Institutional Placement – A fast-track way for an already-listed Indian company to raise fresh equity capital by selling new shares directly to institutional investors (mutual funds, insurers, foreign portfolio investors), without the longer public-offer process a follow-on public issue would require. Requires shareholder and board approval; dilutes existing shareholders in proportion to how many new shares are issued relative to the company's existing share count.
