DASH DoorDash Repurchased $887 Million of Stock and More Than Doubled Its Credit Line the Same Quarter Net Income Fell 30%

DoorDash's Q2 2026 10-Q shows Adjusted EBITDA up 40% to $914 million and revenue up 36% to $4.454 billion, even as GAAP net income fell 30% to $200 million on non-operating items. The buyback jumped from $162 million in Q1 to $887 million in Q2, and as a subsequent event the company more than doubled its revolving credit facility to $2.0 billion while loosening covenants and releasing guarantors.

Net Income Fell 30% the Same Quarter Every Operating Metric Accelerated

DoorDash's Form 10-Q for the quarter ended June 30, 2026 (filed with the SEC on August 5, 2026) tells two different stories depending on which line a reader stops at. Revenue grew 36% year-over-year to $4,454 million, Adjusted EBITDA» grew 40% to $914 million ("well above" management's own expectations, per the earnings release), and Marketplace GOV» grew 36% to $33,078 million - three of the strongest growth prints this site has recorded for DoorDash. GAAP net income attributable to common stockholders, meanwhile, fell 30% year-over-year to $200 million from $285 million a year earlier.

The gap isn't in the operating business. Income from operations was essentially flat ($156 million versus $163 million, -4%) - the real damage to net income came from two non-operating lines: interest income fell 29% to $35 million from $49 million (less cash on hand to earn interest on, after two consecutive quarters of aggressive buybacks - see below), and other income, net collapsed 73% to $16 million from $59 million (the filing does not itemize this line's composition beyond describing it as primarily foreign currency remeasurement gains and losses, which reversed from a gain to a smaller gain year-over-year). Add a swing from a $13 million tax benefit to an $8 million tax provision, and the arithmetic accounts for essentially the entire net income decline without touching the underlying delivery business at all. A reader relying on the headline "net income fell 30%" alone would conclude DoorDash's business weakened this quarter; the opposite happened.

The Prescription

DoorDash should lean into the balance sheet flexibility it just built rather than let the buyback be the default use of newly freed-up capacity. The company just more than doubled its revolving credit facility to $2.0 billion, extended its maturity to 2031, and loosened the covenants that constrained it (see Beyond the Usual below) - genuine strategic optionality, arriving the same week Adjusted EBITDA beat guidance. That optionality is worth more spent on accelerating growth investments - or on further M&A in software/merchant services, building on the SevenRooms acquisition - than on buying back stock at a price still well below where DoorDash traded through most of 2025.

What it should stop doing: treating "other income, net" as a rounding line investors don't need explained. This quarter it swung 73% and single-handedly drove roughly half of the reported net income decline, yet the filing offers only a generic description (primarily foreign currency effects) with no breakdown of magnitude or driver. A metric this volatile, moving a headline profitability number by tens of millions of dollars quarter to quarter, deserves the same disclosure discipline DoorDash already applies to Adjusted EBITDA and Contribution Profit».

Key Financial Metrics

Q2 2026 vs. Q2 2025 - consolidated, reported in USD (DoorDash reports natively in USD, no FX conversion needed)

Metric Q2 2026 Q2 2025 YoY
Revenue $4,454M $3,284M ✅ +36%
Adjusted EBITDA» $914M $655M ✅ +40%
Income from Operations $156M $163M ⚠️ -4%
Net Income attributable to common stockholders $200M $285M ⚠️ -30%
Free Cash Flow» $742M $355M ✅ +109%

Balance sheet: DoorDash's 10-Q compares quarter-end to the prior fiscal year-end, not the year-ago quarter, so the columns below are Jun 2026 vs. Dec 2025

Balance sheet metric Jun 2026 Dec 2025 Change
Total Assets $19,561M $19,659M flat
Total Liabilities $9,629M $9,613M flat
Total Stockholders' Equity $9,921M $10,033M ⚠️ -1%

Free Cash Flow more than doubled year-over-year to $742 million, up from $355 million in Q2 2025 and up 77% quarter-over-quarter from Q1 2026's $420 million - a sharp reversal of the working-capital-driven softness flagged in the Q1 2026 post. Summing the four quarters ended June 30, 2026 (Q3 2025's $723 million, an implied Q4 2025 standalone figure of $254 million derived from the FY2025 10-K's full-year total less the first nine months, Q1 2026's $420 million, and Q2 2026's $742 million) puts trailing-twelve-month Free Cash Flow at roughly $2.1 billion. Total cash and investments (cash and cash equivalents of $4,424 million plus short-term investments of $923 million and long-term investments of $869 million, excluding $513 million of funds held at payment processors and $308 million of restricted cash) stood at $6,216 million as of June 30, 2026, down from $6,382 million three months earlier - almost entirely explained by the $887 million spent on share repurchases this quarter (see below).

DoorDash's Adjusted EBITDA rose 40% to $914 million and revenue grew 36% to $4.454 billion in Q2 2026, both accelerations from Q1 2026. GAAP net income fell 30% to $200 million, but the decline traces almost entirely to lower interest income and a swing in "other income, net" - not to the operating business, which strengthened on every measure the company discloses.

Key Operational Metrics

Q2 2026 vs. Q2 2025

Metric Q2 2026 Q2 2025 YoY
Total Orders 970M 761M ✅ +27%
Marketplace GOV» $33,078M $24,244M ✅ +36%
Contribution Profit» $1,641M $1,147M ✅ +43%
Contribution Profit as a % of Marketplace GOV 5.0% 4.7% ✅ +0.3pp
Net Revenue Margin (Revenue ÷ Marketplace GOV) 13.5% 13.5% flat
GAAP Gross Profit $2,223M $1,608M ✅ +38%

Net Revenue Margin held flat at 13.5% year-over-year, reversing the decline flagged in the Q1 2026 post (12.8% versus 13.1% a year earlier) - evidence the Deliveroo mix effect that appeared to compress take-rate in Q1 was either temporary or has now been offset elsewhere in the business. Contribution Profit grew 43%, outpacing GOV growth of 36% for the first time in several quarters, and Contribution Margin as a percentage of GOV improved to 5.0% from 4.7% - the clearest single sign this quarter's growth came with improving, not just larger, unit economics. DoorDash still does not disclose exact merchant, consumer, or Dasher headcounts, or an absolute DashPass subscriber count.

Beyond the Usual

The Buyback Jumped From $162 Million to $887 Million in One Quarter

DoorDash repurchased 5.7 million shares of Class A common stock for $887 million during Q2 2026 at a weighted-average price of $156.88 - more than five times Q1 2026's $162 million and the largest single-quarter repurchase this site has recorded for DoorDash. Combined, the company spent just over $1.0 billion in the first half of 2026 against the $5.0 billion authorization announced in February 2025. Per the earnings press release, approximately $3.95 billion remained available under the authorization as of August 5, 2026. The average price paid this quarter ($156.88) sat near the low end of the stock's Q2 2026 trading range, which ran from roughly $159 in May to $184.53 at quarter-end - continuing the pattern flagged in the Q1 2026 post of buyback activity resuming and accelerating specifically after the stock's decline, without the company ever stating this as a deliberate price-sensitive policy.

The Revolving Credit Facility More Than Doubled - and Covenants Loosened - the Same Day Earnings Were Reported

As a subsequent event dated August 5, 2026 - the same day the quarter's results were released - DoorDash entered into an Amendment Agreement with JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A. as administrative agent that amended and restated its existing revolving credit facility. The changes: the facility itself grew from $800 million to $2.0 billion, the letter-of-credit sublimit grew from $600 million to $800 million, the maturity extended five years to August 2031, guarantors under the prior agreement were released from their obligations, and certain restrictive covenants were removed. As of the amendment date, no revolving loans were outstanding and $84 million of letters of credit had been issued under the facility. Separately, letters of credit issued under the facility (for real estate leases and insurance) grew to $171 million outstanding as of June 30, 2026 from $106 million at year-end 2025 - a 61% increase, of which the credit-facility-backed portion nearly doubled to $117 million from $61 million. Taken together, DoorDash now has meaningfully more borrowing capacity, on cheaper terms, with fewer restrictions, than it has disclosed at any point this site has tracked - a materially stronger liquidity position than the "$800 million, fully undrawn, no funded debt" language that has appeared in every prior DASH post through Q1 2026.

Stock Price Since Last Quarter

DoorDash's stock recovered somewhat in the second quarter of 2026, closing at $184.53 on June 30 versus $150.15 at the end of Q1 2026 - a 23% gain, the first quarterly increase this site has recorded since Q3 2025 (DoorDash has not split its stock since its IPO, so these remain actual nominal prices). The stock still sits well below its highs: 32% below its September 30, 2025 closing peak of $271.99, and roughly 19% below its December 31, 2025 close of $226.48. Over the trailing two years, the stock traded as low as $150.15 (Q1 2026) and as high as $271.99 (Q3 2025) - a peak-to-trough swing of roughly 45%, comfortably past the threshold for a dedicated price section.

Target Valuation Range

~4.8x TTM EV/Revenue, up from ~4.2x three months earlier, but still far below DoorDash's two-year range of roughly 4x-9x. Verdict: too-early-to-call on a precise numeric target - the same integration-related uncertainty flagged last quarter (undisclosed restructuring scope, a take-rate mix effect that has now reversed but wasn't explained either way) still argues against a full DCF this quarter, so the peer-multiple read below, framed as base/bear/bull scenarios with explicit implied prices, is the honest substitute.

With 433.30 million total shares outstanding (408,992,917 Class A and 24,302,737 Class B, per the cover page as of July 30, 2026):

Market cap → enterprise value Q2 2026 (period-end)
Share price (period-end, June 30, 2026 close) $184.53
Shares outstanding (Class A + B) 433.30 million
Market capitalization ~$79.96 billion
Less: cash and investments $6.22 billion
Plus: convertible notes, net $2.73 billion
Enterprise value ~$76.47 billion
Peer-multiple sanity check (TTM basis) Q1 2026 (TTM) Q2 2026 (TTM) Change
TTM Revenue $14,721M $15,891M ✅ up
TTM Adjusted EBITDA $2,943M $3,202M ✅ up
Enterprise value ~$61.8 billion ~$76.47 billion ✅ up
EV/Revenue» ~4.2x ~4.8x ✅ up
EV/Adjusted EBITDA» ~21x ~24x ✅ up

TTM Revenue is computed as Q1 2026's own TTM figure ($14,721M) minus Q2 2025 ($3,284M) plus Q2 2026 ($4,454M) = $15,891M; TTM Adjusted EBITDA the same way ($2,943M - $655M + $914M = $3,202M). Both the multiple and the underlying fundamentals improved together this quarter - unlike Q1 2026, where the multiple compression came entirely from the falling stock price against still-growing fundamentals, this quarter's multiple expansion reflects a genuine stock recovery layered on top of accelerating TTM revenue and EBITDA.

Scenario Key assumption Implied EV/Revenue Implied share price
Bear Multiple compresses back toward Q1 2026's trough as growth normalizes post-Deliveroo 3.5x TTM Revenue ~$136
Base (current) Multiple holds near today's level 4.8x TTM Revenue ~$184 (matches period-end close)
Bull Multiple recovers toward the ~6-7x range last seen in mid-to-late 2025 7.0x TTM Revenue ~$265

Each scenario applies the stated EV/Revenue multiple to TTM Revenue of $15,891 million to derive enterprise value, then adds back cash and investments ($6.22 billion) and subtracts convertible notes ($2.73 billion) to reach equity value, divided by 433.30 million shares. This is a multiple-based sanity check, not a full discounted cash flow - DoorDash's post-Deliveroo unit economics are still normalizing (Net Revenue Margin swung from a decline in Q1 2026 to flat in Q2 2026 without a clear company explanation for either move), which is exactly the kind of unsettled input a real DCF needs before it's worth publishing as more than illustrative.
